Why Imran Khan accepting LOTA leaders in PTI, Analysis of Hasan Nisar

We are hearing new slogans from old faces in the political theatre of Pakistan that they will build “new Pakistan”. They are playing with the emotions of common Pakistani by chanting these slogans of new Pakistan in their public meetings.Yes, we need something new to save the falling pillars of Pakistan first and then to chalk out a new ideology and strategy to build that new Pakistan. These slogans can change the faces of the ones in ruling junta but they cannot bring any change in the existing system of Pakistan. All the intelligentsia of Pakistan agree on one point that we cannot just lay back and wait for some miracle to happen as the condition is so critical that existence of Pakistanis at stake.

The issue of bad governance always come first and in the lime light when we have discussions in the TV talk shows or at the tea stalls. We did not understand and learn one simple phenomenon from our history that the hearts and minds of the people cannot be controlled by sitting in Islamabad. This arrogance, style of governance and stupidity of our ruling junta created major differences among different sections of Pakistan.

Since they had no direct connection with the Pakistani people so the meaning of democracy for our governments were to just rule on Pakistan, where as it should be to distribute the resources, wealth and opportunities to cities, towns and villages of Pakistan without any discrimination. The result was the freedom of East Pakistan and similar voices heard from Sindh, KPK and Baluchistan.

The other most important thing creating rift in our society is that basic rights of common Pakistani were neglected from day one. The very vital departments of employment, education, health, basic infrastructure and economic growth were controlled by the corrupt politicians and establishment and merit was thrown out from the corridors of power.

We should have learned lesson from our so called strategic partner USA, our brother China and our enemy India that empowerment at the local level is the key for the survival of super powers and world economies. It’s always better to listen to the voice and demands of the masses before it’s too late. The idea of empowerment at the local level was really successful and has delivered at the door steps of karachiites during the tenure of Mayor Kamal.

East Pakistan was just demanding the provincial autonomy and control on their resources in 1971 and we are hearing the same kind of voices from Sindh, southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa and Balochistan in the last 25 years. This is the best time for an open debate on this important issue related to the survival of Pakistan and if we opt to create more provinces in Pakistan then that will open the doors of peace, progress and economic growth for Pakistan. The creation of new provinces would address the root causes of socio-economic problems and strengthen the state of Pakistan.

There are serious grievances and concerns in Saraiki, Hazarewal, Balochi and Urdu speaking communities that they are not getting their due share and role in Pakistan and they have been alienated and isolated since the creation ofPakistan.

The demand to create new provinces on administrative basis is really genuine and should not be considered as anti-state by the Pakistani establishment. In my opinion, this demand shows that these communities and their leaders are very patriotic with the country and they want their rights within the geographical boundaries ofPakistan.

I watched this news today that the parliamentarians of MQM has tabled the resolution for Saraiki and Hazara provinces and I must say that other political forces should support this “ Saviour of Pakistan “ resolution.

Formula for Change – Middle Class leadership in Pakistan

I went toPakistanthis year to see my family and friends. I was praying that the situation remains peaceful inPakistanbecause I remembered my trip in 2007 when we arrived inKarachiand the next day the rally of Benazir Bhutto was targeted in which almost 150 people lost their lives. Unfortunately, the reality is that when you go fromUSAtoPakistanit looks like that you are coming from modern age into stone age.

My country of birth and origin “ Pakistan “ where we don’t have electricity, gas, law and order for the people of Pakistan but we proudly present load shedding, inflation and bad governance of Pakistan. It reminds me of thatHollywoodmovie “Back to Future “but at the time when you are traveling back to US.  I soon realized that I cannot drive inPakistanbecause there are no traffic rules on the streets and my friends told me that you have to assume that everyone is blind on the road except you. Another surprising thing was that half of the traffic lights inKarachiwere not working and people were stuck in the traffic coming from all directions. This is really shocking that in the last 64 years, we were not able to transfer the knowledge to our citizens and totally failed to implement the traffic rules. The other surprise to me was that the buying power of Pakistani has been struck really bad with the high inflation rate and it was really hard for me to coup with the high prices even with the US dollars in my pocket. This growing inflation and bad economy is increasing the gap between the rich and poor and the concept of middle class is just fading away from our society.

An excellent example of bad governance is that there is no price control inPakistanand if you go for shopping from one corner to another then the prices starts fluctuating. The governments do not have any control on the businessmen and small traders then how could they governPakistan. We usually hear about the downfall of all large industries and institutions inPakistan; one of my relative told me about the Steel Mills that the employees there have not been paid for last 3 months and sees no hope of any improvement in the future. While on my trip toPakistan, I was really fortunate to meet with my teacher and had discussion about the education standards inPakistan. I was shocked to know that they are teaching the same book from which we studied 16 years back. Are we not serious with the future of our children or we don’t have the highly educated people in our governments to make the educational policies?

My family told me that there will be load shedding of electricity in different hours and this is just a routine schedule for them. I had to adjust the hours and minutes of my schedule, therefore load shedding is dictating the terms to the poor Pakistanis. A country with tons of natural resources in Sindh andBaluchistancannot produce their own electricity and gas. The situation of health facilities in our country is nothing different and I experienced this when I had to go to the hospital after having food poison. I was shocked to see the environment and filth in the emergency ward of a private hospital. The un-employment rate is so high and the conditions are so bad that you will see people committing suicide or forced to beg on the streets.

Pakistanwas created in the name of Islamic welfare state and we do have the “ Bait-ul-Maal “ in our system but this charity money is going into the pockets of our so called poor ruling elite. The desire of our ruling elite to increase their bank balances and to build their empires is endless. I must say that you could describe the survival story of poor and oppressed people inPakistanin just one magical word “ Miracle “.

I was inPakistanduring the month of Muharram and muharram processions were being organized in all major cities but the shameful episode for all of us was that thousands of police and rangers were deployed in every city to secure these religious processions. In my thoughts, I was comparing these processions with the ones inNew York,ChicagoandLos Angeleswhere the people from all religions practice their rituals without any fear. Islam is a religion of peace but with our shameful acts we are breaking our religion into pieces. Police is the most corrupt department inPakistanwhere the law enforcers take law into their own hands and treat the citizens as their slaves. We have laws defined for every aspect of our lives in the constitution ofPakistanbut the problem is that rule of law does not prevail in our society. The history has witnessed the societies being perished where there was no law and justice for common people. What I have learnt from my recent trip toPakistanis that we need major reforms in every field and for that we have to elect the educated representatives from poor and middle class background. Pakistanis, please look around you for this young, energetic and middle class leadership to change the destiny ofPakistan.
